Trip to Illinois by Tim

Pictures of my trip to see Fran (and others) in Illinois. I helped a little with some landscaping, drove the mini-baja car, got to see William, Samantha and Zara, and stopped to see Cory and family in Utah on the way home. Sorry, I did not get any pictures of Fran or Samantha. It was a great trip and will return with Jay for Christmas.

Signing Off

Your brother is home so my blogging work is done. Time to be done with the worn out shoes and ties too.
I'll sign off with these fall pictures my sister sent me last year from North Carolina of the Blue Ridge mountains. I hope to go there some day.

Contact me if you have blogged pictures you want me to see. Hasta luego!

The Yellow Dump Truck

Once at Christmas time Santa brought a yellow toy dump truck to a family that lived on a farm.
But the children in the family weren't very interested in playing with the dump truck. They liked other kinds of toys.
So, the yellow dump truck stayed parked in the corner of the living room, and then it was put in the bedroom and eventually ended up in the closet.
When summer came the farmer's wife took it outside thinking that maybe someone would want to play with it but it just sat in the yard. And when fall came it was put in the corner of the dusty shed and there it stayed for many years.
The yellow dump truck thought it might have been a mistake that he came to the farm family and that maybe he would end up in the land of misfit toys.

Then one day a little boy who was just learning to walk came out in the backyard and the farmer's wife got the yellow dump truck out of the shed to see if he would like to play with it.
He crawled right over to it and took hold of both sides of the dumper with his two little hands, ...

stood up and balanced himself and began to push the yellow dump truck all over the grass in the backyard.

The yellow dump truck could hardly believe how much fun it was to be a toy that children played with! They drove around the grass then bumped over the crabapples that had fallen to the ground and headed out to the gravel driveway and drove 'round and 'round.

When the little boy went in to the house the yellow dump truck got to stay on the cool green grass until the next day when the little boy came out to play again. And this happened for several days in a row! Those were such fun days for the yellow dump truck.

The little boy has gone back to where he lives now, and the yellow dump truck has gone back to the dusty shed. But he is happy. He has learned that it wasn't a mistake that he came to the farm family. Different children like different kinds of toys and he just needed to wait patiently for the child to come along that wanted to drive a yellow dump truck all around the yard!
