Exploring the Hood Canal on our 'Preparation day'

 Crossing the canal to find a public shellfish beach.
 Shine Tidelands public beach.
 The Hood Canal is a misnamed channel or fjord. The red line is our touring route.
 You can run from Mt. Rainier but you can't hide!

 Looking west toward the Olympic Mountains.
 Clam shells and oyster shells.
 Some of them still have the mollusk inside.
 This looks like a rocky shoal but it's a pile of shells, a shelly shoal.
