The willow tree in the front yard is my wind sock. Its soft branches told me yesterday the winds were from the west. And were they ever! We had wind advisories from the weather service. Boy I have to admire the brave truck drivers of our nation that keep our commerce going! They have to go out and do their job even in dangerous weather. Yesterday a semi got blown in to the median on the Perrine Bridge heading in to Twin Falls. The truck driver was pretty shook up and couldn't talk to the press. He or she was probably thinking how lucky it was they were heading south and blew in to the median instead of heading north and being blown off the bridge! The accident bent the whole trailer. I, on the other hand, had the option of staying out of the weather. I read the book Aunt Frannie sent me. The Kite Runner

Many magic valley residents breathed a collective sigh of relief Wednesday when we learned that Sempra Generation no longer intends to build its proposed coal-fired plant northeast of Jerome. There was a spirited campaign in the community to stop it and it worked! I wrote to Commissioners Davidson, Lierman, and Howell and signed a petition. I hope every little bit helped. Is this a great country or what?! The PBS program called Idaho Reports said that it was a triumph of the "little people."
