Fish dinner

We went down to the little lake in the canyon and caught this fish for dinner.
We're lucky we got it. When Dad went to gather up his things his fish was gone. I had been in the truck reading while Dad was fishing but out of the corner of my eye in the dusky evening I had noticed Charlee prancing by the parking area carrying something. So, in the almost dark, we went searching for the fish. She had laid our fish in the weeds by the parking area. I'm glad she didn't bury it! Was she a good dog retrieving the fish or a naughty dog stealing it?

MLK day stroll

We went down in the canyon by Niagara Springs for a cold winter stroll with our pup. The temperatures have been below freezing all day for a while now.
Adjacent to the river is this little fishing lake fed by the springs in the background.
This wet dog mistakenly jumped in that cold little lake.
She saw these green water plants and thought it was the bank. She disappeared under the water like the Abominable in Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie. I could hardly believe my eyes! My dog was gone! Then up she came and I boosted her out. She acted like nothing happened and went back on the dock with me again. Then it was funny.

High Flyin' Cousin

Michael was here this week flying the Salt Lake City/Twin Falls route for UPS.

I got to have a couple of visits with him, and Tracy and I went out to the airport this morning to see him fly in but got there about 5 minutes too late to see him land. Rats!

BOISE STATE 43 OKLAHOMA 42

For those of you who may have missed what is being called by many the best football game ever played, here is the headlines in the local paper. I wished I would have taped the game. I do not watch much football, usually just the bowl games and the Super Bowl occasionally, but I am glad I did not miss this one. It was so exciting. To recap the last few seconds of the game. Okalahoma went ahead 42-35 on a 25-yard run. With only a few second left in the game, most thought it was over. But on 4th and 18 with only 7 seconds left, the Bronco's quarterback Jared Zabransky hit Drisan James at the Okalahoma's 35 and just as he was to be tackled, he pitched the ball to Jerad Rabb--the old Hook and Ladder play--, who raced into the end zone with no time left. Then Boise decided to go for the win rather than for the tie. They lined up with three wide receivers on the right side. Jared turned to throw to one of them, but instead, handed the ball behind his back to Ian Johnson--the Statue of Liberty play-- who raced into the end zone untouched for the two point conversion and the win. The announcers were going crazy and saying how this was the best game ever. Since then there have been many articles in the paper and on TV newscasts and on the internet that confirm that this was one of if not the best game ever played in college football. I was watching a professional playoff game yesterday, and John Madden made a comment about a play Seattle ran. He said, "oh they just tried a Boise State play". So, now potatoes are not the only claim to fame for Idaho.

B is for blue

Aiden made this stocking for Uncle B.

Feeling a little blue 'cuz B just left to head back to school. It was fun to have him home.
