I tried Tracy's dill pickle recipe. I haven't ever done dill pickles before. We froze this good lookin' corn on Tuesday. The best part of freezing corn is sucking the sweet milk out of the cob after the kernels are cut off.

Home and Garden
Dad kept the yard and garden green and crispy during the heat wave while I was gone. I think the Black-eyed Susan is especially stunning.

Monday night Charlee and I were sitting out on the lawn enjoying the cool evening when a stiff dry wind came up. It felt like a blast furnace. Apparently there was lightning too because this range fire started south of Shoshone. It looks like it's just over the rise but it's about 10 miles north.

oops. looks like you didn't center your pics. i think if you edit your entry and click on compose tab you can just drag everything into place. our corn wasn't picked early enough so it's no good, darn it. mmm pickles. our yard and garden has lots of weeds. we have got to get to the yards sat. we are just too busy to have so much yard.
The black-eyed susan is gorgeous! How do you make it grow like that? I want to plant black-eyed susans.
It's not that I forgot to center the pics. I tried to do something different and stagger them. But I have to type the words in where it will let me and then when it publishes it looks completely different than what I set up.
I'm out of my league!
Wow that corn looks good. We've had nothing but crummy (and expensive) corn this year. I'd like to be trapped inside a giant ear of that corn and have to eat my way out.
How are the new trees holding up?
Just that little comment about you and Charlee sitting out on the lawn reminds me of how nice it is to come and visit you in the summer and do just that. Sigh. Maybe next summer we'll make it out. We sure do miss you!!!
The new little aspen trees are doing great so far.
We have a new little baby forest and I couldn't be prouder!
fran, those are such beautiful pictures! kelsey and i were glad to have you bring your way of living into our disorganized city life for several weeks around lentil's birth. maybe if we had nick-named him after some cityesque like "rushhour" or "density," we wouldn't have enticed you as we did with lentil.
caroline, i love the picture of you eating your way out of an ear of corn. that was a larger creative dose that i expected to see in comments on this post!
