It's Weird

The Goodbodys were out of hay, so I called TimPetterson and asked him if we could buy some horse hay from him, since I know they have a lot of horses and would have good hay. He said yes so I went and got 4 bales. Then we took the hay out to the Goodbody's. Today Steve Goodbody brought the papers on the horse to school to give to me. Guess what!!! Guess where the horse was born. Right. It was born not a mile from our house. Chuck Petterson, Tim's dad, was the breeder and it was born just down the road on March 1, 1983. There is a paper attached to the certificate of registration that says not to be removed for any reason. It is a Record of Races Won on American Quarter Horse Association Approved Tracks of North America. Yes, we have a winner. On April 26, 1986 she won the MDN type of race, which according to the legend is a Maiden race. That is the only entry so I guess they retired her after winning. I can't wait to tell Tim we have one of his horses. Her registered name is:

Rastus Fastus Sire: Prepotent out of Figure 8 Bars and Easy Jet
Dam: Fastus Rastus out of Clabber's Eva and Custus Rastus

I can go back even farther: Jet Deck, Lena's Bar, Sugar Bars, Figure 8 Missbearcat, Requested, Slim Rosie, Clabber's Win, Panche Belle.

She even has a tattoo # 6763B somewhere.

Her hooves are a mess and I am waiting for the hoof trimmer to trim her before we bring her home. Isn't this exciting..

Oh, by the way, the pivot fell in the canal and Fran and I had to go pull it out. Now I will have to get a new bridge built. They are suppose to cut the hay this week end.

We probably saw her from the bus as a little foal running around in their pastures! Cool. She'll feel right at home. And that's pretty fun to have a pedigree and a winning race horse!

Cool! You're practically big league horse owners now.
